The Women’s UCI World Cup overall title has come to its mid season break after an exciting race in Leogang, Austria, which saw Manon Carpenter (GBR) become the first rider this year to win her second race.

Carpenter had to fight back to take the win from reigning World Cup overall and World Champion, Rachel Atherton also from Great Britain.

Atherton has been fighting sickness during the first half of season, and it showed as she lost her dominant lead to Capenter during the flatter second half of the course.

Going into the break Atherton is sitting in third on 1925 points, Carpenter just ahead with 1929 point, but Emmeline Ragot of France is still first with 2115 points despite finishing fourth in Leogang. The question will be, will Atherton now have time to properly recover during the break?

The season will commence on August 3rd in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada.
