Boardmasters Competition Line Up Announced

Once again the world of board sports will descend on to Fistral Beach for Boardmasters 2014 .The competitor line-ups has been confirmed for the Pro BMX, Pro Skate and International Surf Competitions which take place from the 6-10 August.

Portugal’s Keshia Eyre will be back defending her title in the SunGod Women’s Open.  British surfers, Sarah Beardmore, UK’s top female pro and Emily Currie, current English Champion will be hoping to stop her in the waves.

In the Men’s surfing open, the defending champion, Romain Cloitre is coming back to Fistral Beach, hoping to win back the coveted title.  The one of the world’s finest surfers the Frenchman has stiff competition from the likes of Noah Lane and Jock Barnes two of Australia’s best surfers.  Home grown talent is also riding high with Russell Winter and Alan Stokes will be hoping to take the title from Clotire this year.

Local legend and the world number two Ben Skinner  is back to defend his title in the Davidoff Cool Water Men’s Longboard Pro.  Skinner will be fighting off competition from fellow local surfer Adam Griffiths and past European Longboard Champion Sam Bleakley.

Skateboarding has been one of the main highlights at the Boardmasters Fistral Beach site with the action pulling in big crowds.  This year looks to be no different with the Pro Skate and the Penny Best Trick competitions planned. Fans can expect to see the likes of Cornwall locals Jake Anderson and Sam Bosworth as well as Alex Hallford, Jed Cullen, Greg Nowik and Carl Wilson.

Andrew Topham, Festival Director, said: “We are thrilled with the competitor line-up for this year’s surf competitions. The quality of talented athletes coming from all over the world to compete in the event is outstanding. We can’t wait to see previous winner Romain Cloitre back at Fistral. But fingers crossed that one of our British surfers can beat the internationals. Boardmasters hasn’t seen a Brit claim the Men’s Open title since Russell Winter over a decade ago.”

Headlining on the main stages are Snoop Dog, Zane Low, The Enemy, Chase and Status, Mistajam and the Bastille
